Codex / Your character

Aging and rebirth

Your fighter enters the Academy at sixteen and grows one year older for every six hours you are logged in. There is no best age, only the one that fits how you fight.

The years

AgeWhat happens
16You begin, at the Academy.
18You choose your Primary Trait.
21You choose your Secondary Trait.
25The Warden Threshold. The Academy's doors close to you for good, and you gain a stat milestone.
16 to 35Stamina grows every year and peaks at 35.
35 to 55Stamina holds.
55The trading years begin. Stamina declines slowly while Nimis keeps growing.
16 to 75Nimis grows slowly and without pause.
75The Decline. A large one-time gain in Nimis, and stamina now falls faster each year.
80 to 95Death by old age, at an age set for that life within this range.

One year is six hours logged in, so a whole life runs to roughly 380 to 470 hours.

Young, prime and old play differently

  • The young have stamina to spare. They move, dodge and brawl.
  • The prime years, around the early fifties, are the balance of both.
  • The old carry enormous Nimis and little endurance. They hit hard and cannot keep it up.

None of the three is simply the strongest. How old you want to be is part of your build.

When the life ends

Rebirth is never automatic. When your fighter reaches the end, they enter a dying state and you return to character select. There you choose to be reborn, or to use an Age Freeze Elixir and keep playing. Nobody loses a life to an idle session.

What rebirth gives you

  • Ten extra attribute points for the new life: 110 to distribute where a first life has 100. This does not stack. A seventh life still starts with 110.
  • A small chance at a Super Trait. If it lands, you may take it on the new character or seal it in a Trait Jar, which can be traded. A Super Trait takes the place of your Secondary Trait and opens builds that ordinary traits cannot. It is a different option, not a stronger one.
